Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island called West Island. The West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar of its purpose. Many people believe that it is an island to the west of Montreal, but it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the two cities that are Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island, although it's not the case. Brugel was a young woman in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. Early ambitions were to become an expert dancer. Then, a growth increase caused her to surpass her dance partners she had. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. After I outgrew the male partners, I quit. Many ex-dancers switch to acting. In the case of Brugel it was because of the advice from her drama teacher in high school who pushed her to take the step she wanted. It was her teacher who advised her to audition as Anne in the school's annual production. The audition was successful and she was chosen in the role of Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program which she completed at the age of 20 with a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Over the past 20 years, the roles played by Brugel on TV and the big screen have been numerous. Her role as Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most notable. Brugel is the only Canadian actor in Season 1 and only appeared at times.
